Firearms: Decline in the Number of Federal Firearms Licenses
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is responsible for licensing persons engaged in the business of manufacturing, importing and dealing in firearms. ATF’s jurisdiction and the regulatory requirements applicable to federal firearms licensees (FFL) are derived from the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA).
